Cardio v. Weight Training

So why should you do both?

CARDIO’S EDGE?

blog cardio trainingCalorie for calorie, cardio has a slight advantage. You will burn 10 to 12 calories per minute running, compared with 8 to 10 calories per minute hoisting weights.

STRENGTH’S EDGE?

blog weight trainingLifting weight gives you a metabolic spike for as long as an hour after your workout because your body is trying help your muscles repair. That means you will fry an additional 25% of the calories you just burned from your workout. Lifting heavier weights only increases the amount of calories burned.

More good news when it comes to pumping that iron, for every three pounds of muscle you build you will burn another 120 calories just vegging out. This is because muscle takes much more energy to sustain. Over a course of a year that’s about 10 lbs of fat……..without even changing your diet.

At A Strong You Fitness Boot Camp we mix it up by doing both weights and cardio for 60 minutes.

SO BURN FAT, BURN! LET’S ROCK IT!
